So, tomorrow I bring my contribution to the mix: live drum tracks on the first Animotion release in a couple of decades. I've been dubbed "junior" by some of my Animotion bandmates, but have earned a few stripes over the past 11 years that I've been with the band. It was on my birthday in 2002 that I played my first gig with the band in a funky little club in Fresno, California, and I felt like I became part of an extended family.

Hi everyone, and welcome to my very first blogging experience! I'm so pleased that you are still interested in Animotion and what we are up to. The band had been laying plans to get us started on a new record and we are all walking around with our creative hats on and looking fabulous might I say! I have been doing some writing at home over the past few months and picked out three songs to do a demo of at Cobolt Studios. Just me my voice and my little red Gibson guitar telling musical stories.

With 4 weeks to go before Animotion goes to work in an LA studio, it's become apparent that we have enough material for an album. We'd planned to choose 4 songs, and finish them in the next month or two. Now that we've been discussing which ones to complete, we may decide to put out an album instead of a shorter EP. Is it realistic to think we could do an entire album and release without dragging the process out too far? At this stage, I'm thinking that we should set priorities and make sure we finish the strongest of the lot.

Animotion will be preparing to record new songs at a studio in Los Angeles in mid March. And because we'll all be in LA at the same time, we've taken a show at the Brixton in Redondo Beach for St Patricks Day - Saturday, March 17th. Don, Greg, Astrid, Kevin, and I will be joined by Tad Wadhams on bass. We'll play the hits and some new material as well. If you're in the area... come see this rare appearance!

Animotion has been working on new songs this year. Astrid, Bill, Don, Greg and Kevin have been collaborating digitally and in person when conditions allow. We're excited about the new material and aim for a March 2012 release! We will definitely make at least one new track available for free download in the new year. Thanks for listening! Bill

We'd like to introduce you to Stephan Gehrig, who is working with us as our International booking agent outside of the Americas. Stephan comes from Olten, Switzerland, and studied at the Berklee School of Music. We met him through our friend, drummer Mike Mangini. He's pitching us to festivals from the UK to New Zealand. We're thrilled at the prospects! Thanks Stephan!
